Ok one last time.
I am not trying to farm fame here.
I want to build a list of reliable and good PvP players....so more or less I was looking for a way to get involved with a good group of players. Even if that meant buying my initial friends.
I don't want to learn in PuGs or earn fame by having someone farm it for me.

A better thing to do would be to put some sort of "number of maps played" conditions into it. I think there are 8 maps before the HoH, and you may end up playing or skipping any number of them on the way there, even if the number you actually play is 0.

The best way to learn about PVP is just to play PVP, and to read, and then read some more, and then when you've done enough reading, read some more. Oh, and play. Did I say play already? You need to have played so you understand what you are reading......
basically its about experience, which is why such a value is set by tombs groups on ranks. It has nothing to do with ability (I know plenty of outstanding PVP players who are under rank 3) and everything to do with how well you know the maps, how well you you know the kinds of builds being run, how well you understand what is expected from you in your role in tombs, which is a different form of combat to the other PVP formats.
is it worth buying that first friend? Somehow i doubt it. The really good groups are unlikely to take you because of your lack of tombs experience.
There isnt an easy way to gain the fame to get you accepted by such groups either, especially as you are unwilling to join a PVP Guild IWAY as a fame farming model is OK, but not really any better than any other organised build when all is said and done.
If it was me I would hang around my home districts in tombs looking for organised groups, not accepting blind invites, and just running with whatever organised group would have me, regardless of rank. slowly you will accumulate experience along with those fame points, and with that you will play with people who know what they are doing. add them to your firends list and play with them whenever they're online.
No quick fix to this, I think you'll get ripped off by following this path

IWAY in general is frowned upon. MATH runs IWAY better then most IWAY teams. As such, they have become some sort of bashingpoint for all IWAY-haters.
The best thing you can do is just beat them, and cut the trashtalk. Its not helping anyone.
This reminds me of Timmy, Johnny and Spike. If Spike can win HoH with a very simple to play build, why shouldn't he?
Or better said: why is a simple to play build like IWAY succesful?
Pressure builds that are painfully simple will always be in any diverse competitive environment (i.e. MtG: the goblin deck). The key is that there is no wrong offense, only wrong answers. And that is probably why IWAY wins still its games....

Hey buddy I know your impatient... but its better to learn through experience and fun...
Sure what your doing is one way to do it I suppose... but do you really think if you pay someone, they will really be your "digital" friend??
Im a PvP noob too, "well im gettin there"
And yea the fame looks cool, and its discouraging to not have any idea WTF is going on, but trust me, go to LA... enter the CA "Combat Arena" and do random groupings....
I'm finding through my personal XP that I'm learning and making friends with good people who have insight that benefits me... And if anything anywhere has ever been true its that... knowledge gained for urself is worth ten fold knowledge u read or hear about....
And with my earlier post i was mearly pointing out where the PvP "running" started, as ppl still ask where did PvE go wrong with all the running

Your best bet to winning the halls is quite simple: somehow convince someone in the [MATH] guild to take you along as a W/R. (Probably easiest if you played with an inconsequential spirit like Predatory Seasons). Follow instructions on vent/ts, take advice sportingly, and you will most likely win.
Will you feel that rush of excitement everyone feels when they first win? Probably. But it wont really be the same kind of feeling you get from actually working towards your win.
Its a bit like winning the 100 meter dash on a bike. Sure, you won, but you didnt really try.
I remember when i first won the halls, i was playing a smiter. As alot of you probably remember, its was the easiest class to play at the time; all you did was maintain certain enchantments and then spam certain buttons. Winning was great, but it was literally nothing compared to winning when you had a more active role in the group. Not to sound snobbish, but winning the halls now has lost alot of its former excitement for me. It no longer feels as 'good' because ive been playing tombs so much. But winning every now and then when playing a key character like an infuser (monk), still evokes that feeling of success. Just a slight caution, i guess.
